What is FIR?

How the FIR Program works
Contractors enrolled in the FIR program work with one Senior Combination Inspector from the City of Portland for all their projects. This inspector handles everything from process management to plan review and every inspection along the way.
The benefit of working with one senior inspector for all of our projects is we get to know each other. This strong working relationship allows us to have a flexible, efficient, and solutions-based approach to the permitting process. The FIR Program does not relax code requirements or provide lower standards of plan review or inspection services than those required by Oregon State law or the City of Portland. Being a recognized FIR contractor just means the city knows that we do solid work and understand the codes.
